Stay connected anywhere in Australia with GME’s latest product — the XRS-660 Handheld UHF CB Radio.

GME, an Australian-owned manufacturer of leading communication technology, has launched the Australian-made XRS-660 Handheld UHF CB Radio, and this piece of tech is a must for Aussies who want to stay in touch when heading into remote areas.

Only a small portion (approximately 27 per cent) of Australia is covered by mobile phone reception, so having a device that can keep you safe and connected even when in mobile phone black spot areas can be a lifesaver.

The XRS-660 is the first of its kind, with built-in GPS functionality ensuring true location awareness without relying on a smartphone to provide location data, making it perfect for new and experienced campers, hikers, 4WDs, caravanners and anyone who spends time working in regional and remote areas, whether it’s for work or pleasure.

One of the XRS-660’s exciting new features is that it is the first handheld UHF CB radio to feature a colour TFT LCD screen, which provides a high-quality display in all manner of environments, even full sunlight.

Users can also enjoy the Bluetooth audio connectivity, which will allow the device to wirelessly connect to a large range of third-party audio accessories, providing users with new and improved ways of staying connected.

And of course, being Australian made, this device is ready to withstand all Australia has to throw at it. The XRS-660 features a rugged IP67 ingress protection, meaning you don’t need to worry about it getting wet, as well as a MIL-STD810G rating which means it has undergone rigorous testing to ensure it can withstand heat, cold, shock, humidity and much more. Overall, the XRS-660 is the toughest and most advanced handheld UHF CB radio yet.

GME safety expert, Tony Crooke, said, “For Aussies travelling or working in remote and regional areas, staying in touch is vital to ensuring they get home safe. That’s why GME is proud to launch the XRS-660 — the first-ever XRS handheld radio with GPS tracking capabilities.

“Building on the market-leading innovation of GME’s popular range of XRS Connect UHF CB radios, Australians can now have total peace of mind knowing they can communicate with their fellow travellers or workers all while their live location is visible, without mobile phone service.”

The XRS-660 Handheld UHF CB Radio is $549. A full stockist list is available on the GME website
